Nathan and Alyse Roe join Camp Akita as New Asst. Camp Ranger, Food Service & Housekeeping Director

The Illinois Conference Executive Committee voted on December 18, 2024, to hire Nathan and Alyse Roe to serve as Camp Akita's next Assistant Camp Ranger and Food Service & Housekeeping Director, respectively.
Nathan and Alyse have accrued extensive experience in camp operations over the past fourteen years, including prior experience at Camp Akita. Alyse has a degree in pastry arts and has previously served as a baker and head cook at a summer camp. Nathan has worked as a camp ranger, photographer, videographer, and counselor.
“I’ve always felt called to summer camp ministries,” Nathan says. “I’m really looking forward to helping make Camp Akita even more of that welcoming place where people come to strengthen their faith.” As Assistant Camp Ranger, Nathan will work with Camp Manager/Ranger Tim Pittenger to ensure the efficient and safe operation of all our camp activities and facilities.
Alyse is happy to come back to Illinois: “This camp has always been a source of peace for me, and a place where I find God’s presence.” The Food Service & Housekeeping Director, oversees the kitchen and cleanliness of camp buildings.
The Roes have worked together to mentor young people. Both are heavily involved with their local Pathfinder club and Nathan organized the blacksmithing honor at the 2019 International Pathfinder Camporee.
