West Central SDA Church hosts Lunch and Learn

Vera Brooks

Member, West Central

Motivated by what might have been the first “Lunch and Learn” - when Jesus shared the gospel, bread and fish with five thousand souls, last year the West Central Church Board approved hosting a “Lunch and Learn“ series covering the iconic book “Steps to Christ” by Ellen G. White.

Each 1st Sabbath from January through June, members and visitors alike will spend time learning who Jesus is, the steps to becoming more like him – as well as enjoying nutritious soups and sandwiches. Everyone in attendance receives a free copy of the book, along with a notebook and highlighter. The sessions are broken into two small groups: English and Spanish.

The groups are encouraged to read and be prepared to share their thoughts and answer questions that relate to each respective chapter. Pastor Ralph Shelton and the elders of West Central are encouraged and blessed to have the opportunity to begin 2026 feeding the Lord’s sheep both physically and spiritually.

“This is an amazing book that has been translated into 160 languages, offering  every reader a clear, scripture based introduction to our loving Savior and the gift of salvation.”  said Pastor Shelton.

Using postcards and digital ads to promote the “Lunch and Learn”, each regular attendee will also receive a Certificate of Completion this summer.  West Central is grateful to have the opportunity to fellowship, study God’s word and participate in this ministry.  They are in discussions to host more “Lunch and Learn” study groups in the future.
