Because this is an ongoing story, we will post all articles on this topic in "The Conference Office" series of stories:
The Illinois Conference Executive Committee has voted to call a Special Constituency Session for March 29. The session will begin at 10:30 a.m. at a location to be announced. Delegates who served at the 2022 Constituency Session will also serve as delegates for this special session.
The Executive Committee also voted the following recommendation, which forms the single business item on the session agenda:
“To recommend to the constituency the approval of the relocation of the conference of the Illinois Conference within the Greater Chicagoland Area with details to be worked out by Conference administration and the Executive Committee. The proposed location will not increase operational costs.”
The Executive Committee’s action follows a January 27 vote by a joint meeting of the Executive and Association Committees authorizing Conference administration to explore a few unsolicited inquiries for the Conference office building.

Conference leaders first explored selling the building around 2017 after longtime tenant PT Solutions vacated the property. At that time, the commercial real estate market was not favorable for a sale. However, renewed interest in the property has prompted fresh evaluation.
“Mission mainly happens in our churches, schools, and in the lives of our members,” said ILC President John Grys. “As a Conference, we should be willing to make thoughtful decisions that better support that mission.”
NEXT STEPS
A series of town hall meetings in each area of the Conference will commence on March 16, where Conference administrators will answer any questions which members may have. One of the most anticipated questions already has a clear answer.
“We do not yet know the location of a potential new office,” said ILC Executive Secretary Michael Campos. “We are carefully evaluating several possible sites and are committed to making wise, mission-focused decisions. We welcome your prayers throughout this process.”
