Around 100 Chicagoland youth gathered on October 28 for the 2024 1-Day Youth Rally. Pastors David Quilatan (Bolingbrook), Rodney Balmes (Hinsdale Fil-Am) and Felipe Soares (North Shore) spoke on the rally's theme, “Beyond Belief,”which drew inspiration from the powerful biblical story of Moses and the burning bush.

The rally’s key message revolved around empowering youth to understand that God calls individuals to fulfill His work, not based on their qualifications but through His power and purpose. The teachings spanned essential themes: the nature of God’s call, navigating moments when the call feels distant, and overcoming doubts. Felipe Soares delivered a moving reminder that God Himself accomplishes the work; He performs the miracles, and we, as His messengers, are never alone in our mission. This narrative set the stage for an impactful day focused on the message that God’s call can reach anyone, even when self-doubt clouds our confidence.

One highlight was the afternoon visit to UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale, organized by Pastor Jose Castro (Hinsdale) where a group of 25 youth and adult leaders brought joy and encouragement to patients and staff alike. This act of service underscored the rally’s emphasis on living out one’s faith in tangible, community-focused ways.

The day concluded with a lively gym night, where participants enjoyed fun, games, and camaraderie in a rented gym.

Looking Ahead

The momentum from the Youth Rally will carry forward into future events. This weekend (November 8-10), our pathfinder and master guide leaders will participate in Empower at Camp Akita. Additionally, the upcoming Winter Retreat is set for January 17-19, promising more opportunities for growth and connection.

Plans for 2025 are already in motion, with two exciting retreats on the calendar. Besides our annual 1-Day Youth Rally, we will be launching a new Public High School Rally. While the dates are set, we are in the final stages of determining the venue.

The Youth Rally was not just an event; it was a reminder of what can happen when we step beyond our comfort zones and trust in the One who calls us to be His hands and feet. We look forward to seeing how these seeds of faith will continue to grow in the months to come.
