Beyond the Basics 2024

Purpose:

The Beyond the Basic is designed with the purpose to motivate, encourage, and help our youth, master guides, and leaders of our local churches to enjoy the second Bible, nature, through a Canoe/Kayak Camping Trip on one of our amazing rivers. Also, anyone interested in learning about Youth Ministries and nature is welcome to come!

Who Is This For:

The Beyond the Basic is for all the youth, young adult, Master Guide candidates and invested, as well as youth ministries leaders.

Dates:

The Beyond the Basic will be this coming September 7th to 8th, 2024. The event begins Sabbath, Sept.7that 10:00am but you can arrive as early as 9:30am to Check-in and will finish on Sunday around 12:00 noon.

Location:

The site to start our Beyond the Basic is Brace Memorial Park (Lone Rock) (33948 Lake Ln Lone Rock, WI 53556), which is a beautiful park surrounded by the stunning creation of God. Be sure to guarantee your spot and register as soon as possible.

Description:

This is a 2 Day 1 Night Overnight Canoe Kayak Camping River Trip where you will experience camping adventures on the wide, shallow, sandy Wisconsin River and this is the best river trips in the Midwest! The journey is from Lone Rock to Boscobel. You will be required to paddle 10 hours over the 29-mile stretch of river. There will be plenty of great sandbars to stop and rest, stretch your legs and of course camp on. You will finish your trip at your vehicle in Boscobel, WI.

You are likely to see bald eagles flying above, so bring some binoculars if you care to see these beautiful creatures with a close eye. It's not unusual, if your group is quiet, to pass right under a perched eagle on a branch over hanging the river.  In the right water levels, we encourage you to explore the side channels - if it looks like there's enough water going down it...check it out!  Come with the right mind set and create everlasting memories on this one-of-a-kind experience for yourself or with family and friends.

Food:

Each participant needs to make their own arrangements for food.

Cost:

The registration ranges from $75.00 to $180.00 USD depending on when and for what you register.

·  Regular Registration until September 2nd, 2024.

o  $75 (Canoe with a partner)

o  $176 (Canoe sit solo)

o  $150 (Kayak sit solo)

·  Late Registration until September 6th, 2024.

o  $85 (Canoe with a partner)

o  $180 (Canoe sit solo)

o  $160 (Kayak sit solo)

Ask your church if they can assist you financially to pay the registration. Take advantage of the Regular Registration Fee before September 2nd. After that date, the cost will go higher.

The Cost Includes:

The registration fee for the Beyond the Basic includes insurance, and canoe or Kayak.
