Illinois Conference Update
Healing From God
In a previous letter (January 6, 2012) we shared how Pastor David Sitler was severely injured in a burn accident while on a mission trip. There have been so many miracles since that time. His process of healing has exceeded the expectations of the doctors and nurses involved in his treatment. He has escaped a number of complications they thought would come to him. He has made progress much faster than anticipated. We can see the hand of God at work in answer to the prayers of His people. More details will be shared in the next Illinois Today (printed newsletter) that is coming out soon.
The Beverly Hills SDA Church has a prayer line that was started earlier this year. Rather than meeting in a particular geographical location, people gather by phone through a conference call every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:00 AM and each Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 PM. All are welcome. To join this conference call, prayer meeting, phone (916) 233-2999, enter pin number 886256# when prompted.
Reaching Non-attending Members
When you look around your church, you may notice some empty places. Some people who used to be a part of the life of the church are no longer present on a regular basis. Where have they gone? What can we do to reach out to them? The elder's retreat at Camp Akita this coming weekend brings an opportunity for church elders and pastors to find ways of reaching back to these people.
Plan now to join us for the Chicagoland Convocation on Sabbath, May 12, 2012. For more information, go to the Conference web page. The theme is, Standing Together Before His Throne. In addition to great speakers, fun, food, and fellowship, there is an evening concert planned featuring the trio, Selah. Plan now to join us for this special Sabbath. (Please go to the web site for further information about buying meal tickets and registering for activities or the concert. This information will also come to you in the mail.)
The Communication Department is being reorganized. The person in charge of this department will be a full-time employee known as the "communication assistant." The intended beginning date for service is May 2012. You can see a job description on the Conference web site. Or you can download a job description (as a PDF). Even if you are not interested in such a position, you may know someone who would be good at this work. Feel free to pass along the information.
May God Bless you as spring comes comes to us again.
