The purpose of Family Ministry Certification is to train and equip family ministry leaders to present seminars and help develop effective family ministries in the local church and community. Why train leaders? The enemy’s attack on the family has become more intense than anyone could ever imagine. The need for Family Ministries to be prepared, informed and involved is vital.
The program offers ten modules designed to give a healthy understanding and overview of what is needed in family ministries. When a person attends all ten lectures and fulfills the independent learning requirements of all ten modules, he/she will receive Basic Family Ministries Certification from the Family Ministries Department of the North American Division of SDA. The presenters of these ten modules are family life educators who train throughout North American Division and the Holy Spirit has blessed their ministry to families and the church.
The completion of this certification does not make one an expert rather it makes him/her aware of some of the areas in which families have needs. This gives the trainee an idea where he/she can help with ministry. The aim is to provide trainees a practical and comprehensive resource to help their church to become family friendly and to offer a variety of family life seminars and activities that would help meet some of the needs in their church and community.
Who can attend? Although it is designed to train family ministry coordinators, it is open to church leaders who have a passion for raising healthier families.

Short-Term Mission Trips — The Illinois Conference is trying to gather data for the North American Division on short term mission trips.  These do not have to be out of the country.    If you, or anyone in your church has been involved in short-term mission work in 2016 or 2017, please would you let us know.  You can email the information to e-news@ilcsda.org, or you can call Shona Cross (630) 856-2800.
